Sigma 35mm F2.0 DG DN Contemporary Lens – Full-Frame Prime with f/2 Aperture
The Sigma 35mm F2.0 DG DN Contemporary Lens is the perfect fusion of classic design, cutting-edge optical technology, and everyday practicality—engineered for discerning photographers who demand compactness without compromising performance. Meticulously crafted as part of Sigma's prestigious I Series, this all-metal wide-angle prime lens boasts an impeccably sleek exterior made from precision-cut aluminum, delivering both tactile satisfaction and long-term durability. Designed exclusively for mirrorless systems and optimized for multiple mount full-frame and APS-C cameras, the lens presents a standard 35mm focal length, which translates to a highly versatile 52.5mm equivalent on APS-C sensors—ideal for street, travel, portrait, documentary, and even low-light creative work.
At its optical core, the Sigma 35mm F2.0 DG DN Contemporary is built with 10 lens elements in 9 groups, including one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element and three high-precision aspherical elements, expertly engineered to suppress chromatic aberration, field curvature, and spherical distortion. This intricate design ensures tack-sharp image quality from corner to corner, even when shooting wide open at its bright f/2 maximum aperture. The result is breathtaking detail and exceptional contrast, even in challenging lighting environments. Whether you’re shooting handheld at dusk, capturing a model with creamy bokeh, or freezing street action on the fly, this lens delivers. And thanks to its 9-blade rounded diaphragm, it creates dreamy, natural-looking background separation that elevates the subject and adds visual allure to every frame.
Weighing just 325g (11.5 oz) and measuring only 70mm in diameter and 67.4mm in length, the lens is not only ultralight and travel-ready, but it also maintains a reassuringly premium feel in-hand. Despite its compact form, it includes a manual aperture ring—a rarity in modern lenses—that offers tactile precision and control for both photographers and videographers. Sigma goes the extra mile by including both a traditional plastic lens cap and a magnetic metal lens cap, showing a clear attention to detail that sets this lens apart from its competitors. A robust stepping motor ensures whisper-quiet, lightning-fast autofocus, making it equally suitable for stills and video, while its compatibility with Sony’s latest Eye AF and subject-tracking technologies means you’ll never miss the perfect moment.
This lens is not just about optics—its form and function are thoughtfully engineered for real-world use. The construction includes weather sealing at the mount to protect against dust and light splashes, giving photographers the confidence to shoot in unpredictable outdoor conditions. With a minimum focusing distance of 27cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 0.18x, it allows you to get close to your subjects for intimate, detailed compositions, making it incredibly versatile for flat lays, food, or lifestyle photography. And with a standard 58mm filter thread, adding polarizers or ND filters for creative effects is easy and accessible.
While some lenses compromise between size and performance, the Sigma 35mm F2.0 DG DN Contemporary proves that you can have both. It doesn’t just meet the needs of professionals and enthusiasts—it anticipates them. Whether you're capturing breathtaking cityscapes, emotive portraits, or artistic bokeh in natural light, this lens brings your creative vision to life with consistency, clarity, and character. Choose the Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN if you want more than a lens—you want a reliable partner that enhances your craft, feels good in your hands, and travels effortlessly wherever your creativity takes you. It's not just a tool; it's an experience—refined, reliable, and remarkably rewarding.
Features:
Premium All-Metal Build for Durability and Style
The Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary stands out with its precision-crafted, full-metal construction—an uncommon feature in modern compact lenses. Every component, from the barrel to the focus and aperture rings, is machined from high-quality aluminum for exceptional durability and a professional tactile feel. This premium build isn’t just for aesthetics; it provides long-term reliability for photographers who shoot in varying environments. The metal lens hood and magnetic cap further enhance its robust, pro-grade design, making it feel like a true mechanical instrument in your hands.
High-Resolution Optical Design with Advanced Elements
Inside its compact body lies a sophisticated optical system: 10 elements in 9 groups, including one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element and three precision-molded aspherical elements. These components work together to suppress chromatic aberrations, reduce distortion, and ensure edge-to-edge sharpness—even at the maximum aperture of f/2. This means sharper detail, better contrast, and true-to-life colors in every shot, making it a powerhouse for high-resolution full-frame cameras.
Bright f/2 Aperture for Low-Light Versatility and Bokeh
The fast f/2 maximum aperture gives you the flexibility to shoot confidently in low-light conditions without needing to bump up ISO unnecessarily. It also enables shallow depth of field, helping you isolate subjects beautifully with smooth, rounded bokeh thanks to its 9-blade rounded diaphragm. Whether you’re shooting indoors, during golden hour, or capturing night scenes, this lens offers excellent creative control over light and focus.
Stepping Motor for Fast, Silent Autofocus
Equipped with a high-speed stepping motor (STM), the Sigma 35mm F2 ensures fast, accurate, and virtually silent autofocus—essential for both still photography and video work. The motor seamlessly supports real-time Eye AF and tracking features found in Sony mirrorless systems, ensuring you never miss the moment, even when capturing fast-moving subjects. The quiet AF also makes it ideal for content creators and videographers who require minimal operational noise during recording.
Built-In Aperture Ring with De-Click Option for Videographers
Unlike most compact primes, this lens includes a dedicated aperture ring, giving photographers manual control over exposure settings directly from the lens body. This tactile ring can be locked into automatic mode or adjusted in real-time, which is particularly useful for videographers who want smooth aperture transitions during recording. It adds a layer of intuitive control that elevates the shooting experience beyond typical autofocus-only primes.
Weather-Sealed Mount for Outdoor Reliability
The rear mount of the Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN is fitted with a dust- and splash-resistant seal, providing an added layer of protection when shooting outdoors in unpredictable weather. This makes it a trusted companion for travel, landscape, and street photographers who often encounter moisture, dust, or changing climates while on the move.
Compact, Lightweight Form Factor for Everyday Carry
Weighing only 325g and measuring just 67.4mm in length, this lens is remarkably compact given its optical performance. It fits comfortably in any camera bag—or even a jacket pocket—making it perfect for on-the-go shooting. Whether you’re navigating busy streets, hiking scenic trails, or traveling light, this lens won’t weigh you down, but it will elevate your results.
Versatile 35mm Focal Length for All-Around Use
The 35mm focal length is a favorite among professionals and enthusiasts alike due to its natural field of view. It closely resembles human vision, making it ideal for a variety of genres including environmental portraiture, documentary, lifestyle, street, travel, and general-purpose photography. On APS-C bodies, it effectively becomes a 52.5mm standard lens—offering even more versatility.
Magnetic Lens Cap and Traditional Cap Included
Sigma includes both a standard plastic lens cap and an innovative magnetic metal lens cap with the 35mm F2. This not only enhances convenience, allowing for faster lens handling, but also adds to the premium user experience. When paired with the optional CH-11 magnetic cap holder, it becomes a thoughtful, professional-grade accessory ecosystem.
Compatible with USB Dock UD-11 for Customization
Though the lens functions flawlessly out of the box, advanced users can further customize and update it using the optional Sigma USB Dock UD-11. This allows firmware updates and fine-tuning of focus parameters, ensuring long-term adaptability and integration with future camera body features.
Designed for Mirrorless—Not an Afterthought
Unlike DSLR-adapted lenses, the Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN is built from the ground up for mirrorless systems. This results in optimized size, balanced weight distribution, and exceptional performance when paired with full-frame and APS-C cameras. It’s not just compatible—it’s purpose-built.

- Premium Compact Primes for mirrorless users - One of the key advantages of mirrorless cameras is their smaller form factor, and this new 35mm optic is designed to be perfectly matched to these more compact systems without sacrificing performance. This combination of superb optical quality with exceptional portability, not previously possible with DSLR systems, will bring new opportunities to this and future generations of photographers.
- New standards of optical performance for the Contemporary line - Axial chromatic aberration, a point of particular concern with a bright lens, is corrected with SLD glass, while an optimal placement of high-refractive index elements provides effective correction of various types of aberration while keeping the amount of glass used to a minimum.
- Use of multiple high-precision aspherical glass molded lenses - The surface of molds for glass molding, which is a process that forms optical components by pressing glass materials at high temperatures, requires ultra-high precision. SIGMA uses high-precision molds whose surfaces are controlled with an accuracy of ±5 nanometers (0.000005 mm) or smaller.
- Magnetic metal lens cap - The I series lenses* are accompanied by a dedicated magnetic metal lens cap, in addition to a normal plastic cap. This dedicated metal cap clips to the front surface of the lens magnetically.
- Stepping Motor - The lens is capable of smooth, quiet, and high-speed AF made possible by a stepping motor, as well as supports Face/Eye Detection AF and video AF.
- Mount with Dust and Splash Resistant Structure - The lens mount incorporates rubber sealing to protect the mount from dust and water drops.
- Super Multi-Layer Coating - SIGMA’s own Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses flare and ghosting by preventing reflections within the lens. All lenses in the current SIGMA range feature this original technology. In digital cameras, flare and ghosting may also be caused by reflections between the image sensor and lens surfaces.
- Aperture ring - Designed to help users work intuitively.
- Focus Mode Switch - Using this switch, it is possible to switch the focus mode between AF and MF.
- Linear focus / Non-linear focus - With “non-linear focus,” the amount of focal point movement varies depending on the focus ring rotational speed. With linear focus, if the focus ring rotational angle is the same, the amount of focal point movement remains the same regardless of the focus ring rotational speed.
- Designed to minimize flare and ghosting
- Supports DMF, AF+MF
- Inner focus
- 9-blade rounded diaphragm

It is so nice to see a small family owned shop instead of these big box stores. I generally felt cared about when getting my blackmagic cinema camera. Love the quality of the images and how easy it is to use.

This small business has the best customer service HANDS DOWN!!
Lucas worked with me diligently to help me find a camera that would fit my needs and that would arrive in time for my trip. I take photos, but wanted a smaller, more compact camera to take with me when traveling. He even reached out to other camera experts to make sure he was giving me the best advice for the equipment that would accommodate my needs!
Lucas was patient with me and was in constant contact with the camera supplier to keep me updated on the status of my order and when the items would be ready for shipment. Once my order arrived to the store, it was in my hands in less than 2 days. I would give 10 stars to this business if I could!!
SHOP SMALL! :)
AMAZING SERVICE!
In short: I was able to receive the black colorway below retail and free next day shipping with the promos that they offered for being a new camera web-shop based from AZ.
Long story: Lucas who is prolly the only rep for the company cuz they're so small is the best dude ever. Since i ordered he responded on emails and updates quicker than some of my friends texting me back about where am at on the list as people just kept cancelling their order. I went from 9th place in line to 4th place in line for the silver. And he hit me up saying that they were still waiting on Fuji to send shipping updates and that no company knows what they get on their weekly fuji shipments other than from a 24 hour window of receiving shipping details.
He then noted that there were two black X100Vs available that were reserved to customers who ordered but have not confirmed. I said if they dont confirm please let me know and ill take that instead of the silver. The next day he hits me saying the customer said to cancel and he sent me an invoice. I ordered accessories for the camera on amazon right after and my package for the camera came before my amazon package. Lucas was super nice and transparent about everything. Dope experience from NUZIRA.
Lucas was so incredibly helpful!!! I’ve genuinely never had better customer service. They offered to stay late so I could get my order and were so patient with all my questions. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

NUZIRA MADE MY MONTH!
I was a little concerned when I first came across this small business but I am so so thankful I di! They have the NICESt staff and customer service. I have been on the waitlist for this camera for a few months now so when Lucas called saying they had it back in stock I was so freaking excited! Made my whole month. This camera absolutely lives up to the hype. I love how lightweight it is. I can pop it into any bag and head out the door. the images are crisp, high quality, and stunning. I use film sim and not film sim. The film simulations are nearly identical to real film. I have another fuji camera that does film sim but it can't even be compared to this one. I love my Fujifilm X100v so much! Amazing camera! Thanks you Nuzira!
