Introducing the first X Series camera to feature 26.1-megapixel, the black Fujifilm X-H2S Mirrorless Camera is a multimedia mirrorless camera that features a refined AF and subject detection, an impressive 6.2K video recording, and a newly developed back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 5 HS stacked sensor and X-Processor 5 which combine to provide a 14-stop dynamic range and outstanding performance in all lighting conditions. Allied to the sensor is the new X-Processor 5, offering lightning-fast performance for the most demanding situations and delivering next-level performance enhancements in video and stills processing capabilities and a 5.76 million dot resolution EVF, alongside advanced, intelligent autofocus functionality that is 3x faster than Fujifilms preceding X-T4 model capable of handling vast amounts of data.

The Fujifilm X-H2S is the go-to device both for hybrid image makers and dedicated motion professionals because of its powerful video features. Up to 90 minutes of footage can be internally recorded with a single battery at a wide range of resolutions and frame rates up to 6.2K/30P in Open Gate 3:2, 4K/120P, and Full HD/240P. This delivers unparalleled flexibility within the X Series lineup. Plus, the ability to record 10-bit 4:2:2 Apple ProRes footage internally to CFexpress Type B memory cards offers incredible post-production flexibility while the X-Trans 5 sensor's 14-stop dynamic range optimizes the level of image detail across a uniquely wide exposure range. Continuous shooting is possible at 15 frames per second with the mechanical shutter and up to 40 frames per second when the electronic shutter is deployed. These impressive speeds are backed up by the camera's high-capacity buffer which allows unlimited continuous recording and writing of JPEG and RAW files to a high-speed memory card when using the mechanical shutter.

More details:

  • X-Trans 5 Stacked BSI Sensor - The first X Series camera to feature a stacked sensor, the X-H2S sports an APS-C-format 26.1MP X-Trans 5 stacked BSI sensor, which ups the readout speeds and improves low-light performance compared to the previous generations. First, as an X-Trans sensor, it uses the unique color filter array that inherently minimizes moiré and contributes to more natural color rendering; next, the BSI design helps reduce noise and improve tonality and clarity; and, finally, the stacked design greatly reduces rolling shutter and other motion distortion to better suit high-speed video and photo applications.
  • High-speed burst shooting at up to 30fps for over 1000 images - Increased memory capacity dramatically extends the camera’s ability to record continuous frames in burst mode without stopping. Reach blackout-free speeds of up to 40fps, make over 1000 frames continuously at 30fps in JPEG, or write RAW images at 20fps* when using an electronic shutter on X-H2S.
  • Improved autofocus for better subject tracking in almost any lighting condition - An improved AF prediction algorithm alongside X-Trans CMOS 5 HS and X-Processor 5 provides a major boost to subject tracking and autofocus accuracy on moving objects, most notably in Zone AF and low-contrast conditions.
  • Subject-detection autofocus - X-Processor 5 features subject-detection AF based on Deep Learning technology that automatically detects and tracks a broader range of subjects, including animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, and trains – as well as human faces and eyes, so image-makers can concentrate on composition and creativity, confident that X-H2S will track focus accurately.
  • Support for HEIF image format - The HEIF image format delivers 10-bit image quality in files up to 30% smaller than standard JPEG files, continuing to expand Fujifilm’s reputation of delivering high-quality images straight out of the camera.
  • Open Gate 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10bit - Open Gate 6.2K movies can be recorded internally at 30P in 4:2:2 10-bit color. X-H2S’s 26.1MP Stacked BSI CMOS sensor has incredible readout speeds of up to 1/180 sec,* which tightly controls rolling shutter effects, resulting in more natural-looking motion when recording video. *When recording video at 4K/60P
  • 4K/120P high-speed video recording - X-H2S also supports 4K/120P high-speed video. Now, fast-moving subjects can be recorded in incredible detail for high-quality, slow-motion footage.
  • Up to 240 minutes of continuous recording - The camera features a new heat-dissipating structure, increasing the video recording time up to 240 minutes of 4K/60P video. *When recording video at 25℃ from a cool start, with the auto power-off temperature set at “High,” bitrate of 100Mbps, a vertical battery grip VG-XH attached and using three batteries. The recording duration depends on the remaining battery charge and the type and capacity of the memory card used. When the main unit heats up, filming may automatically be terminated.
  • Optional cooling fan accessory - Attach the optional cooling fan (FAN-001) to X-H2S to extend video recording capabilities in high temperatures.
  • Apple ProRes support - X-H2S supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, and ProRes 422 LT. ProRes 422 Proxy is also available when recording ProRes, which can assist in streamlining post-production workflows.
  • 5.76 million dot high-resolution electronic viewfinder - The high-resolution electronic viewfinder has a 0.8x magnification and uses 5.76 million dots for incredible detail. A refresh rate of approx. 120fps suppress image blur and distortion typically caused by looking through the finder at extreme angles, making it easier to track moving subjects more accurately.
  • Tough, weather-resistant body for use in all conditions - With 79 weather-sealed points offering high levels of dust and moisture resistance, X-H2S is built to withstand the rigors of daily professional use and operate as normal in temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F).

What’s the difference between Fujifilm X-H2 & X-H2S?

Fundamentally, both cameras are hybrid cameras designed for those that need high-performance video as well as great stills shooting. Perhaps, the easy way to distinguish them is X-H2S is for speed and X-H2 is designed for resolution.

The Fujifilm X-H2S Mirrorless Camera can shoot Raw and JPEG images at up to 40 frames per second using its electronic shutter and has a buffer sufficient for >1000 images if you're shooting 30 JPEGs per second or when shooting 20 Raws per second, while Fujifilm X-H2 can shoot at up to 15 frames per second in mechanical shutter mode only. Plus, the X-H2 can deliver exposure durations as short as 1/180,000 sec in its electronic shutter mode, whereas the X-H2S tops out at 1/32,000 sec.

In terms of resolution, the Fujifilm X-H2 features a groundbreaking 40MP BSI sensor and up to 8K video while the Fujifilm X-H2S shoots up to 40fps and 4K video at up to 120p from a sensor with fast readout.

Focus tracking is slow for small children moving around.

The AUTO focus mode, such as the Fujifilm X-H2S is a function specialized for the simple shooting of subjects with little movement. Therefore, set the mode dial to "P: Program AE" so that continuous AF for fast-moving moving object tracking can be used, and set as follows so that tracking operation with continuous AF can be performed.

The setting method is as follows:

  1. Set the mode dial to "P".
  2. MENU/OK button > AF/MF SETTING 1/3 page.
  • Set FOCUS MODE to AF-C.
  • Set AF MODE to WIDE/TRACKING.
  • Set PRE-AF to ON.
  • AF/MF SETTING 2/3 page. Set FACE/EYE DETECTION SETTING to ON.

What kind of USB cable is compatible with Fujifilm X-H2S?

The Fujifilm X-H2S is compatible with the Type-C USB 3.2 Gen2x1 connector type.

Is Fujifilm X-H2S compatible with INSTAX Printers?

Yes, INSTAX Printers are compatible with the Fujifilm X-H2S.

The focus is not on an eye in a recorded image although the EYE DETECTION AF was used.

The camera will keep tracking the person’s eyes even when the shutter is pressed halfway while shooting with AF-C and eye AF function on. When shooting with AF-S with the Eye AF function turned on, the focus lock is activated when the shutter is pressed halfway, so if a person moves as shown below after pressing halfway down, AF will not follow even if the shutter is pressed all the way so the focus will be shifted as shown below. Therefore, please try and shoot with AF-C or continuous AF.

How to remove the eyecup?

The Fujifilm X-H2S eyecup is unlocked by pinching both ends, making them easier to pull out.

For earlier models, hold the camera body firmly and slide your fingers upward on both sides of the eyecup to remove it. If it does not come off, slide it alternately left and right.

Is Fujifilm X-H2S equipped with F-Log or both F-Log & F-Log2?

The Fujifilm X-H2S is equipped with both F-Log & F-Log2.
