Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens for APS-C Mirrorless Cameras
The Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens is an uncompromising masterpiece for APS-C mirrorless shooters who crave professional-grade performance without the bulk or price tag of full-frame systems. Designed for creators who demand both speed and versatility, this groundbreaking lens boasts an unprecedented constant f/1.8 aperture—the first and only of its kind for APS-C zooms—delivering exceptional light-gathering power across the entire focal range. From immersive 17mm wide-angle landscapes to tighter 40mm framing for portraits and event coverage, it offers a flexible 2.4x zoom range equivalent to approximately 25.5–60mm on Sony/Fujifilm/L-Mount or 27–64mm on Canon RF-S, making it the ideal everyday powerhouse. Whether you’re shooting stills, capturing cinematic video, or juggling both, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 Art is meticulously crafted to exceed expectations.
Engineered with a cutting-edge optical design of 17 elements in 11 groups, including four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and four aspherical elements, this lens delivers prime-like image clarity, virtually eliminating chromatic aberrations, coma, and distortion. An 11-blade rounded diaphragm ensures beautifully smooth bokeh, especially wide open at f/1.8—perfect for isolating subjects in low light or artistic portraiture. The result? Ultra-sharp imagery with natural color rendition and a professional aesthetic, even in challenging lighting environments. The Super Multi-Layer Coating and water- and oil-repellent front element further enhance contrast and resist flare and ghosting, providing excellent results in backlit scenes and outdoor conditions.
At the core of its swift and silent autofocus system is Sigma’s HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor, offering instantaneous, precise, and near-silent focusing—an invaluable asset for video creators and event shooters where discretion matters. Video shooters will especially appreciate its minimal focus breathing, internal focusing and zoom, and fully de-clickable aperture ring, which ensure buttery-smooth transitions and consistent framing. The lens also features dual customizable AFL buttons, a robust aperture ring lock switch, and an AF/MF switch, all ergonomically placed for intuitive control. Every detail has been considered for advanced creators—whether handheld or on a gimbal.
Despite its cutting-edge optics and professional control suite, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 Art remains incredibly lightweight (approx. 525–560g) and compact, measuring just 72.9mm in diameter and 115.9mm in length. Built with a rugged, dust- and splash-resistant barrel and a brass bayonet mount, it’s designed to endure the rigors of fieldwork. Its minimum focusing distance of just 28cm and maximum magnification of 1:4.8 make it versatile for close-up detail shots as well. With a 67mm filter thread, it accommodates popular filter sizes for landscape, street, and commercial photography.
In a market flooded with APS-C zooms that often compromise on aperture or image quality, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art stands in a league of its own. It is not just a tool, but an invitation to push your creative boundaries. Ideal for travel, weddings, editorial, content creation, and even astrophotography, it empowers photographers and filmmakers to work confidently with one lens across countless scenarios. Priced competitively at just $919, this lens punches far above its weight class—delivering full-frame performance in a nimble, mirrorless-ready package. If you're seeking uncompromising optics, professional controls, and unparalleled versatility in a fast standard zoom, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens is the definitive choice. Don't settle—elevate your creative workflow today.
Features:
Unmatched Constant f/1.8 Aperture Across Zoom Range
The Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art is the world’s first and only APS-C zoom lens to offer a constant f/1.8 maximum aperture throughout the entire focal range. Unlike traditional zoom lenses that dim down at longer focal lengths, this lens maintains full brightness from 17mm to 40mm, ensuring consistent exposure and creative flexibility. The wide aperture is perfect for low-light environments, indoor events, night photography, and achieving shallow depth of field for beautiful subject isolation. It delivers more than one and a third stop of extra light over f/2.8 zooms, which is a game-changer for photographers and videographers working in unpredictable lighting.
Prime-Like Optical Performance with Complex Element Design
This lens isn’t just fast—it’s razor sharp. With a sophisticated optical design of 17 elements in 11 groups, including four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and four aspherical elements, it achieves stunning clarity and edge-to-edge sharpness. The advanced optics minimize distortion, chromatic aberrations, sagittal coma flare, and ghosting, giving it prime-like image quality at every focal length. Whether you’re capturing ultra-wide scenes or tighter shots near 40mm, the detail retention is consistent and precise—making it ideal for professional work in editorial, commercial, and event settings.
Cinematic-Ready Design with Minimal Focus Breathing and Silent Operation
Engineered with videographers in mind, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 Art is built for silent and fluid operation. It incorporates an internal zoom and focus system, so the physical length of the lens stays constant, ensuring smooth gimbal compatibility. The HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor delivers fast, whisper-quiet autofocus—perfect for video capture where motor noise can ruin a take. Even better, focus breathing is minimized, meaning there's virtually no change in framing when racking focus between subjects. This allows for seamless transitions in scenes and cinematic control.
Versatile Focal Range for Every Creative Need
With an equivalent full-frame field of view of 25.5–60mm (or 27–64mm on Canon RF-S), this lens covers wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives—making it perfect for landscapes, street photography, environmental portraits, product shots, and events. The ability to go from expansive wide views at 17mm to tighter framing at 40mm makes it an excellent one-lens solution for creatives who need flexibility without swapping gear.
Beautiful Bokeh and Close Focusing Capability
The 11-blade rounded diaphragm enhances the aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas, producing smooth, creamy bokeh—particularly noticeable when shooting wide open at f/1.8. Combined with a minimum focusing distance of 28cm (11 inches) and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.8, this lens can also double as a semi-macro lens for capturing details, textures, and close-up compositions with artistic depth.
Tactile, Pro-Level Control with Customizable Functions
Sigma has integrated a wide range of manual and programmable controls for the working professional. The lens features a manual aperture ring, which can be de-clicked for video use, and locked to prevent accidental shifts. It also includes two AFL (Autofocus Lock) buttons, which can be customized for different shooting functions depending on the camera body. There’s also an AF/MF switch for quick changes in focus modes and a zoom lock to prevent unintended movement during transport or extended use.
Weather-Sealed and Built for Rigorous Use
Professionals need gear that performs no matter the conditions. That’s why the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 Art includes a dust- and splash-resistant construction, reinforced by a durable brass bayonet mount. The front element is treated with a water- and oil-repellent coating, which helps resist smudges, fingerprints, and the elements—especially important when shooting outdoors or on location.
Compact and Lightweight Without Compromising Quality
Despite its pro-level features and constant f/1.8 aperture, this lens weighs only 525g to 560g depending on mount, and measures a compact 72.9mm in diameter and 115.9mm in length. This makes it exceptionally easy to carry, pack, or mount on lightweight rigs. It's designed to balance well on smaller APS-C mirrorless bodies, offering comfort for extended shoots without causing fatigue.
Ideal for Still Photography and Hybrid Content Creation
Thanks to its broad feature set—including high-speed autofocus, tactile controls, video-optimized mechanics, and ultra-fast optics—the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art is a powerful choice for hybrid shooters who move between photography and videography. It delivers consistent results whether you’re shooting handheld video interviews, landscape stills, dynamic b-roll, or cinematic sequences.
Exceptional Value in the Premium APS-C Lens Market
With an MSRP of just $919 USD, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 offers industry-first features at a price point far below comparable full-frame solutions. It is so nice to see a small family owned shop instead of these big box stores. I generally felt cared about when getting my blackmagic cinema camera. Love the quality of the images and how easy it is to use.

This small business has the best customer service HANDS DOWN!!
Lucas worked with me diligently to help me find a camera that would fit my needs and that would arrive in time for my trip. I take photos, but wanted a smaller, more compact camera to take with me when traveling. He even reached out to other camera experts to make sure he was giving me the best advice for the equipment that would accommodate my needs!
Lucas was patient with me and was in constant contact with the camera supplier to keep me updated on the status of my order and when the items would be ready for shipment. Once my order arrived to the store, it was in my hands in less than 2 days. I would give 10 stars to this business if I could!!
SHOP SMALL! :)
AMAZING SERVICE!
In short: I was able to receive the black colorway below retail and free next day shipping with the promos that they offered for being a new camera web-shop based from AZ.
Long story: Lucas who is prolly the only rep for the company cuz they're so small is the best dude ever. Since i ordered he responded on emails and updates quicker than some of my friends texting me back about where am at on the list as people just kept cancelling their order. I went from 9th place in line to 4th place in line for the silver. And he hit me up saying that they were still waiting on Fuji to send shipping updates and that no company knows what they get on their weekly fuji shipments other than from a 24 hour window of receiving shipping details.
He then noted that there were two black X100Vs available that were reserved to customers who ordered but have not confirmed. I said if they dont confirm please let me know and ill take that instead of the silver. The next day he hits me saying the customer said to cancel and he sent me an invoice. I ordered accessories for the camera on amazon right after and my package for the camera came before my amazon package. Lucas was super nice and transparent about everything. Dope experience from NUZIRA.
Lucas was so incredibly helpful!!! I’ve genuinely never had better customer service. They offered to stay late so I could get my order and were so patient with all my questions. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

NUZIRA MADE MY MONTH!
I was a little concerned when I first came across this small business but I am so so thankful I di! They have the NICESt staff and customer service. I have been on the waitlist for this camera for a few months now so when Lucas called saying they had it back in stock I was so freaking excited! Made my whole month. This camera absolutely lives up to the hype. I love how lightweight it is. I can pop it into any bag and head out the door. the images are crisp, high quality, and stunning. I use film sim and not film sim. The film simulations are nearly identical to real film. I have another fuji camera that does film sim but it can't even be compared to this one. I love my Fujifilm X100v so much! Amazing camera! Thanks you Nuzira!
